EMMANUEL M. RIOFRIR served Malacanang Palace as special events photographer assigned to President and Mrs. Marcos from 1974 to 1984.

Jolly, as he was known by friends and colleagues, was a television news cameraman for Channel 13 in Manila from 1966 to 1974, working with leading news directors and anchors Larry Cruz, Dick
Ildefonso, Joe Cantada, Dick Taylor, Sol Avelino, Louie Eugenio, Ronnie Nathanielz and Milton
Alingod.

Riofrir is a former president of the Press Photographers of the Philippines and member of the National Press Club of the Philippines. After his stint at Channel 13, he worked as part-time cinematographer for famous film and TV directors Lino Brocka, Mitos Villareal, Ateng Osorio and
Ismael Bernal.

He was filming a documentary on President Marcos with Kitchie Benedicto in 1974 when asked to join the National Media Production Center by Secretary Gregorio Cendana with specific assignment to cover the First Lady and the President for the government TV station Channel 4. He joined almost every trip of the President and the First Lady in the Philippines and abroad since 1974 and this collection of rare photographs is a by-product of that assignment.

He is now based in California, USA, where he once published a Filipino weekly newspaper, Balita Today.
